While his son was deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom, E Rick Rinaldi became increasingly alarmed by the bad press surrounding the United States. Rick struggled to understand why so many Americans were dislodged and angry while living in such a great nation. One to look at the good side of life, Rick decided to focus his music composition on bringing to the forefront the history of the United States. He believes that Americans should be reminded of the hard times survived by this great nation, with so much good here to enjoy. Rick believes “America needs a hug.” Haunted by the emptiness of his son, Tech Sergeant Michael J. Rinaldi USAF, being at war, Rick composed a powerful instrumental called “Saving Baghdad”, which later earned him an Indie music award. Yet, “Saving Baghdad” was not enough to satisfy his need to bring better awareness to America, so he set out to compose a theme set of music reflective of the major events of the United States dating back to the early 1900’s. “Where Rivers Run” is the story of all of us. It recaptures the significant eras that have shaped modern day America. With a collection of musical compositions that span many genres of music, Rick brings us back through the 1900’s. We are reminded of the great drought that crippled American farmers, and then the relief of the rain, the glory of the roaring 1920’s, only to be followed by the Great Depression and WWII. Then the good time of the post-war America is celebrated, only to be abruptly ended by the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy, Senator Robert Kennedy, and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., college campus uprise and Vietnam. Finally, after twenty years of unrest, the United States began the healing process. Prosperity eventually returned and people embraced the new millennium with smiles and open arms. However, the disasters of September 11th and Hurricane Katrina served to unite, then ultimately divide us as a nation. “Where Rivers Run” is a collection of passionate music compositions by E Rick Rinaldi, tastefully performed with the compelling sounds of a symphony and the edgy sounds of rock, jazz, and blues. E Rick Rinaldi has dedicated the “Where Rivers Run” tour to the US Armed Forces. According to Rick: “It is through the unselfish sacrifice of the men and women of the armed forces that has allowed our country to rebound time and time again. We are a great nation. We have reason to be proud; very proud. It is through the test of our will as a people, and our ability to rebound, that makes us strong. We are a product of our past. It is the times of turmoil from which we emerge that is a test of who we are. We have much to applaud as a country. Enjoy what is now, for it is all we have.” |
